BOUNDARY
The La Perouse Local Aboriginal Land Council’s (LPLALC) statutory boundary covers the local government areas of Woollahra, Waverly, City of Sydney (in part), Randwick, Bayside (in part) and Sutherland Shire (in part), as indicated in the following map.
According to the 2016 Census, nationally there are 650,000 Aboriginal Australians. In NSW, the number of Aboriginal Australians has increased from 120,000 in 2001 to 216,000 in 2016. At 6.6 per cent, La Perouse, Woollahra, Waverly, City of Sydney (in part), Randwick, Bayside (in part) and Sutherland Shire (in part) in Sydney's East has the highest rate of Aboriginal Australians amongst the Indigenous areas identified in the Sydney city region.
