Youth Worker

 

About the job: 

The La Perouse Youth Haven has an exciting opportunity for a Youth Worker. This position will be supporting the Lapa Lads program as part of our Youth Service. You will have the opportunity to lead a weekly Youth Program for male youth aged 10-16 called Lapa Lads, throughout the school term.

 . 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for planning, organising and running a number of youth services out of Youth Haven. The key program for this role will be Lapa Lads.

  • Providing young people with a positive role model and approachable person they can turn to for support.

  • Running workshops and information sessions and managing external facilitators

  • Evaluate the success of the workshops and sessions.

  • Promoting and recruiting for the program

  • Go to the schools to speak with target groups, or contact parents of target groups the program

  • Reporting

 

About you: 

  • We are looking for people (preferably male) with experience in having worked with children or young men. 

  • Be proactive, friendly, approachable and available after hours for emergencies

  • Be a role model for the young people and encourage positive behaviour

  • Must have or be willing to get working with children check and criminal history check
